Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections for Hair Loss

Verve Men’s Clinic is now proud to offer Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for hair restoration: a non-surgical alternative designed to stimulate hair regrowth using your body’s own healing power.

What Is PRP for Hair Loss?

PRP therapy involves drawing a small sample of your blood, processing it to concentrate the platelets, and injecting the PRP into targeted areas of the scalp. These platelets release growth factors that help activate dormant hair follicles, improve blood supply, and encourage thicker, healthier hair growth.

PRP is most effective for men experiencing early to moderate hair thinning, including male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia).

FAQs

💉 What is PRP and how does it help with hair loss?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy uses your own blood, processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors, which are then injected into the scalp. These growth factors stimulate dormant hair follicles, improve blood flow, and promote thicker, healthier hair growth.

🧑‍⚕️ Who is a good candidate for PRP hair restoration?

PRP is most effective for men experiencing early to moderate hair thinning, especially those with androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness). It’s ideal for patients seeking a natural, non-surgical option or those looking to complement other treatments.

⏱️ How long does the procedure take?

Each session typically takes 60 minutes. This includes consultation, blood draw, PRP preparation, and scalp injections. Most patients return to normal activities immediately afterward.

📅 How many sessions will I need?

Dr Jonny recommends 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments every 4–6 months may be recommended depending on your response and goals.

📈 When will I see results?

Many patients begin to notice reduced shedding and improved hair density within 3–6 months. Results vary based on individual factors such as age, hair loss severity, and overall health.

🧪 Is PRP safe?

Yes. PRP is considered safe because it uses your own blood—there’s no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. Side effects are minimal and may include mild tenderness or swelling at the injection sites.

Patients may experience some slight pain and/or discomfort during the procedure and there may be a small amount of bleeding at the injection sites.

💊 Can PRP be combined with other treatments?

Yes. PRP can complement topical treatments (like minoxidil), oral medications (like finasteride), or even hair transplant procedures. Dr Jonny will guide you on the best combination for your needs and you should discuss current medications with him at your initial consultation.

💰 What does PRP for hair loss cost?

An initial consultation is $95 incl GST and takes 15 minutes in length. This fee includes any follow-up appointments you may require.

Treatments are $700/session incl GST and take 60 minutes in lenght.

Verve Men’s Clinic offers all 3 treatments for $1,800 incl GST to encourage best results for patients. This is the equivalent of $600/session, incl GST.

Your follow-up consultation is complementary.

There are no Medicare rebates available for this type of treatment.

💰Is PRP Medicare rebatable?

No, Medicare does not offer rebates for PRP treatments. PRP for hair loss is considered a cosmetic treatment and therefore carries GST.

🚫 Are there any reasons I shouldn’t have PRP?

PRP may not be suitable if you have certain medical conditions (e.g. active scalp infections, blood disorders, or autoimmune diseases). Dr Fenton will assess your suitability during your initial consultation.

Every patient is unique and results may vary. Invasive procedures carry risks which need to be discussed with your doctor to ensure you are fully informed and realistic outcomes have been explained. We recommend seeking a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner for all medical procedures.
