What is jaw clenching (bruxism)?

Bruxism is the involuntary grinding or clenching of teeth, often occurring during sleep or times of stress. Many people suffer from this condition without realising it, until they begin to notice symptoms like:

  • Jaw pain or tension
  • Worn or damaged teeth
  • Headaches, especially in the morning
  • Neck, shoulder, or ear pain
  • Limited ability to open the mouth fully

These symptoms can have a significant impact on your quality of life, disrupting your sleep and causing lasting damage to your teeth and jaw muscles.

How is jaw clenching treated?

Dr. Peter offers a non-invasive solution for jaw clenching using his preferred products which he will discuss with you during your Aesthetic Consultation.

This treatment works by relaxing the overactive muscles responsible for clenching and grinding, providing relief from pain and tension.

During the procedure, Dr Peter will strategically treat the masseter muscles—the muscles used for chewing—reducing their strength without affecting your ability to speak or chew normally.

What to expect during your treatment

Dr. Peter will carefully assess your symptoms and discuss the best treatment plan for you. The procedure itself is quick, usually taking around 15-20 minutes, and involves a few small injections into the masseter muscles.

The injections are minimally invasive, with no downtime, so you can return to your daily activities immediately after the treatment.
